need help on a ltz400 2006

my naphew just pickedup a 06 ltz400 for 1000.00 with the rear axle broken in two.we have ordered all the parts we need to put it back together but just now relized we dont have the axle spacer for it.

my question is can we leave the long pipe looking spacer out of this rebuild,it doesnt hold the bearings in anyway i just dont see what its purpose is in the rearend assembly.

can anybody help me and shed some light on what the purpose is for it.

if it did not have a purpose it would not be in there

Yea put that it. It will kill your bearings without it. A new one from suzuki is around 30 bucks but i bet your could even find one cheaper on ebay.
