hey guys, my bike started knocking about two months ago. i thought nothing of it, just maybe some valves needing adjusted. about a week later, it kept getting louder, so i adjusted the valves. fired it up and it was still there. i then thought, ROD BEARING! being that my bike was on the low oil end, which was dumb on my part, i thought that was really logical. i finally decided to tear it down, i pulled the head and jug off, then tried to find slop in the rod bearing, nothing?!?! what else could it be?

piston slap. Check the ring gap. I think it's suposed to be less than .018

take your compression ring off. Put it into the cyclinger and mesure the gap where it comes together.
