Just curious How many ppl are still rockin the old school Tamers for MX tires.?

Yall think they are outdated now or just overlooked as a good mx tire.

I would like to keep running them around here because of the track conditions, but I don't think they make them anymore.....

Pretty sure they still make them. I just got a brand new set

i still run them alot. I have a set grooved right now that work awesome on anything but a deep ripped, loamy track. I had a set of non grooved ones that worked ok indoors, but the grooved ones are better. they are a good MX tire, but they are like 2 ply and puncture easy. best for hardpack, indoor tracks

Yea thats what i run em for is during indoor season. And most all of the practice tracks around here are hard packed. I usually leave most of the tread alone till they get worn down a little. I cut 2 lugs out every other lug on the outside edge. It helps with bite out of the corner it seems. But they usually hook up pretty good for me full tread. How do you groove yours?

Where did you pick your up at? I would love to have a set for practice and race depending on track conditions. Thanks

My uncle owns a tire shop and is a dealer for Carlisle. He hooks me up with a sponsorship sort of. But just search turf tamer and theres all kinds of places to order them at. I think they're like $45 a tire now tho.

I think the turf tamers are some of the most underrated tires out there. I loved them when i raced MX, hook up very well when grooved.

the don't make the wider ones for the rear any more...I think they were 11 or 11.5" wide. They still make the 9" wide ones.

I just switched to 18" TTs. After I grooved them, the difference is really noticeable. They bite as hard as my ITP HDs did in a straight line, but they are much easier to swing the rear end around for tight corners.

Mx Eli - I was trying to post some pictures for you, but I can't load them up from work.. Give me your email and I'll send you some pictures

Bracey, are those tires for an 8" rim, or a 9"?
