a guy is selling his ltr for 1500, but he says 3rd gear is screwed, id like to buy the bike cause its mint, but will it cost much to fix this gear? will it require splitting the cases

Yes you will have to split the cases because the trans is inside the cases.... 1500 is a good deal, but if the motor is still together chances are he doesnt know for sure what all is messed up. Remember exploding gear = metal in your oil.. which means there could be metal in everything that oil touches (crank bearing, clutch, other gears, etc)

the guy says its a mint 06 and he says it ran fine but when it enters 3rd gear its like its in neutral again

either he stripped third wich is common, or he needs to change his oil and hes catching false neutrals.

If you can get it for 1500 buy it you can part the thing out for more than that. Head and cylinder alone can be sold for close to 600 bucks
