Well I finally started to get the ball rolling on my blowthrough. After 3 days of tweaking and running it by a few people I believe this is the final version.

Series 6th order, rear chamber is 24^ after displacement tuned to 34, front is 12^ tuned to 70.

looks sick man, im guessing the opening by the supports is the port?

i dont know if you ever go to "realmofexcursion" but a few years ago (when i used to go on there all the time) i seen a guy that was gonna make a box exactly like a flowmaster muffler, lol. i was always curious to see how that turned out

It looks like it will be more like a horn loaded sub. I don’t know weather you will get the full benefit of a horn type sub being so close to it but it may work very good.
What are you putting it in?

It won't be a horn, it's a 6th order bandpass. There are two ports, the rear and the front are treated as their own enclosure in a sense. Gonna be 4 of FI's new BTL N2 18's. Rear chamber is tuned to 34hz and the front is 80hz.

I get what you're saying but the horn effect of the front port will be so little it won't be noticable.

I always wanted to try a blow through, but I could bring myself to cut a hole in the cab of my truck LOL. The design looks good, should be loud.

I’m cuirass too see if you put the speakers firing inward or outward. I’m assuming your going to face them firing outward, that would reduce the horn affect somewhat.
4-18’s are going to move a lot of air, I have some duel 18’s horn loaded sub scoops from EV that work very well for pushing low frequencies long distance’s but they don’t sound as good up close as a plain ported sub do.
At least you are using a program that allows you to tune you cab to your liking. I used WinZip a few times when I build some subs for my pa system.

I also see you have some what looks like supports that look like rods in the diagram, I don’t think they will be needed if you use ¾ cdx for the enclosure.

Also consider making the 4 subs have there own chamber to reduce interference from each other.

Looks nice. Bout damn time you started the blow through.

Are you still going through the back window?

I finally got a fiberglass tonneau cover on my truck. Now MAYBE I can start thinking about my blowthrough again.

Right now im leaning towards 4 AQ SDC15"s on the Crescendo 3kwp.

I scrapped the 2 18" plans I had and sold the HDC3 18". But who knows plans always change.

I want to see the new BTL 10"s :eek2:

I see the N2s are $434. Not as high as I thought they would be. What amps your going to run? Sundown?

I've seen 3/4" MDF flex in large areas like that, and it's more dense than CDX. The more rigid a box is, the louder it will be on the mic. I had a wall in a tahoe one time, and triple layered the walls with 3/4" MDF to prevent flex. Only down side was I had to move it with a forklift.:eek2:

Well they won’t hurt anything as long as you calculated there mass in your calculations. The flexing probably wont hurt the output but it will create sound frequencies coming from the enclosure and causing distortion. I have built a few cabs and I even doubled the walls with ¾ cdx and they were heavy as hell but they sounded great. I even used bracing like you plan on using.

You can do all the calculations you want but you have to build it to see if they work as well as you hope. Given you push enough power, I have no doubt that with 4-18’s it going to be loud.

It's going to be 3/4 MDF doubled up everywhere except for the bottom and right against the wheel wells. The bracing is all acounted for in the final calculations. Going to be running a SounDigital 16KD to all 4. I'm going to tweak the design a little when I get home from work. The subs will be firing toward the middle, motor side is in the rear chamber. Subs should see around 4k clean power each at full tilt. 6 XS D3100's and 2 Mechman 270's are the plan.

And I'm cuttin some metal. Lol.

Thats a sweet looking box design. Should look and sound awesome when you are done with it.

Here is one of my old boxes from back in the day. I sure miss hearing that old system.:(

I still dont understand how you need anything more then a single or two 12's.. At a certain point its just unnecessary. My single 12 is enough on low-mid settings to keep me happy :p

It's a hobby. That's like saying, "I don't see any need to buy aftermarket a-arms or performance mods." It's a hobby and you do it to be faster, in this case us stereo guys do it to be louder. I plan on doing competetions, Just like people mod there bikes to race.

There was a day when I was into having a bad ***** set up in my ride but I wised up and now I just have a stock Delco radio. I chose to put it into a home unit so as to keep thieves from taking it when it’s parked somewhere. Plus as a true driver I like to here the motor and road noise as it lets me have a better feel of what I am doing when i am driving and it lets me here things that are wrong with my truck. I can’t tell you how many times I have forted off a bad accident because I here something that wasn’t rite and pulled over to check it out.lol Thats what happens when you drive a truck for 20+years.
I say to each his own and if you like and want to spend (waste) your money on that stuff then knock you’re self out. Lord knows we all do it with something, (waste money in mean).

Why are people saying it's a waste of money? Aren't quads a much BIGGER waste of money?

You can take that concept as far as you want. I could say that any vehicle less than 15yrs old is a waste of money, and anything bigger or more expensive than a 1980 Honda Accord is a waste of money.

Because its a toy, and its way over kill for what is needed. Just like many things in life we want or think we need and put more money into it than is necessary. This can be applied to most anything, car, truck, quad, exc. I sometimes wish I had the money I have spent or (wasted) on many things from stereos, cars, bikes, and so on. But if that had happened then I would have never experienced many things and would not have learned many of the things I have done. Some see it as a waste and some don’t it all depends on how you look at it.

We have all seen the ones who drive an $800.00 car and they have $3000.00 worth of tires and wheels and another $2000.00 in a sound system. None of which is necessary or practical and neither will make it more valuable and you will never recover the money spent on such things.
I didn’t mean it as an insult but more of sarcasm.

I understand what Bent was trying to convey. EVERYTHING in life is a waste of money unless you're investing your money. lol. A new car is a waste of money when you can go buy a 1980 Accord running and driving fine for 1/10th the price. BUT, we all like to treat ourselves to unnecessary items because we're human. :D
