How do these compare? I am thinking of getting a powervalve for my R to go up against my buddies who have yz426s in their quads. All Im worried about is the holeshot, Im not really worried about the rest of the race except my stamina, whoever gets the holeshot is pretty much gonna win the race with us. The R tires me out quickly, and I know they will not be tired on the 4 strokes, Im hoping a powervalve will change this.

all i can say is that powervalves are Awesome..

your R will acctually have some low end power and more top..if you got the $$ its a great idea.

Go for it! Yes a power valve will greatly help the low-mid range of a 2 stroke, you won't have to work as hard to keep your r in it's power band.

well ive tryed my pv on a short rod engine and a spacer. and the spacer engine has good bottom end and a ton of midrange and top end. on the short rod the engine pull good but dosent have that rush of power

Personlly I am a fan of 4 strokes. I say if you got the money sell both yours quads and make a CRF.

Does anyone have any experience with them in the holeshot? How do they do against the cdales, yz426s, crf450s in the holeshot?

all the really fast riders in my district run powervalved 250r's. there was even one guy (josh straminski) he was giving the powervalved 250r guys some trouble. there was a yzf426 there but he was nearly as fast as the guys on the pv'ed 250r's. there was also one cannondale moto there and he raced B class he got the holeshot but later got smoked by a raptor. i am currently looking into powervalve cylinders. i am going to start my season and see how well i can do on my arens/hermann chassis, with my lrd ported cylinder. if i feel that i need more power i will switch to a pv cylinder. i am debating between the esr, lrd, sparks, and duncan pv cylinders right now. i have heard that sparks has a long wait. so they might be outta the question.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this.. But this is my opinion.:blah

I would probably go ahead and get the Powervalve. Without dropping over $15K into a chassis and bike motor, the 250R is the very best shot at a pro caliber bike. The 400EX is a very good quad, but everyone that knows much about national MX racing knows that it takes more than a 400cc bore, air cooled motor to get on the podium.

Jones is winning on the PV... Why can't you?

may consider trades on one of the fastest engine kits out there
