I have been looking around for awhile and i cannot find anyone near me who will powdercoat atv stuff. I live right on the iowa/illinois border (quad cities) There is one powdercoating shop that will do it, but they said i will need to have the parts blasted and i also can't find a place that will do that around here.

Could i strip off the paint then sand the metal? if anyone knows any places that would powder frames and stuff around me, please let me know!

Yes, they will need to be sandblasted. Sounds like you need to give Pappy a buzz. You can rest assured that it will be right when it comes back to you.

Yeah i've talked to pappy about it, I would love to send it to him but i don't see me paying more in shipping, than the actual powdercoating.

Where at on the border? Advanced Coating Concepts in Manchester, IA does a great job powdercoating. They also do their own blasting. Check it out; might be worth the drive. what are you looking to get coated?

I live in the quad cities, davenport, bettendorf, moline and so on.. Manchester is about 2 hours from me so i may be better off shipping it. i'm looking to get my frame, subframe, motor mounts, grab bar, and maybe a few other things done. any others that you know of closer?

i am getting tired of telling people about frame shipping prices. I have sent three frames to pappy. Not ever did one cost me more than $30 to get to him. Its not expensive. Just show up in person, say you want to ship the frame without a box and they will take care of you

I'm from illinois and Pappy did my whole quad. Well worth the extra money shipping it to him. It's nicer to have someone who has something do to with the sport rather than your regular joe who will powdercoat anything. Not saying there is anything wrong with that but Pappy does great work.

I honestly don't remember what it cost to ship. I know Pappy return shipping wasn't bad at all.

fed ex. Just tape a cardboard panal on the one side (Between top and bottom frame rails) So that you can put a shipping label on. then take it to a Fed-Ex place (dont go to one inside a office depot) like go to a legit fed ex place. Tell them to ship it to pappys address just the way it is. Thats all I ever did.

There's a place in Milan,IL called Sorinex 11th St and 15 Ave ct. They make weight lifting equipment and do their own powdercoating. I talked with them about doing stuff for quads and he said no problem. They have different colors or they can get the color you want. I don't have their number, but I can get it Monday when I go back to work if you want it.
