I'm building an '05 reverse motor for my wife's '02. I bought a bottom end, but it didn't have the side covers. I noticed that there seems to be a "knock out" in the '02 where the reverse shaft should come out. Does anyone know if I can drill the '02 side cover and put the seal in it for the reverse or am I going to have to source an '05 cover?

god thats a great question, i don't know anyone offhand on here that would know for sure... but if i was doing it i would just buy the 05 cover for it, that way you know it is right. and you won't have to worry about a seal leaking down the road.

I may wind up doing that before it's over, but I've got the seals ordered for 10 bucks. I'm going to take it to a machinist I know when the seals come in and see what he says.

not a bad idea, a good machinist should be able to set you up just fine!

def make sure to take pics of not only the case but the rest of it also. I would like to see the internals of a reverse engine and how it can be made to fit in a regular one. steve

Since I bought a bottom end, I won't be getting that far into the internals. There's just a shaft sticking out of the case for the reverse. I'll get a picture, though.
