Is the torque on HD head studs the same as stock or do you tighten the nut more? I believe 33 ft/lbs is stock.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. So torque remains the same regardless if the head bolts are HD or Stock?
The reason I'm asking is that last time I changed the head gasket I torqued everything to 35lbs. I recently had to get back in there and I noticed one of the nuts felt a lot looser then 35lbs. I have HD studs so Im hoping they aren't pulling out or stretching? Im going to clean the seating area and try retorquing. Should I try putting lock tight on the studs? Or has anyone ever used lock washers here?

Thanks

some of them do but the manu should have given you some of the specs that you would need. I would go with at least the stock recommendations if you dont have them from the manu of the studs. i wouldnt use lock washers but that could be another good topic of discussion. i would rather see you use locktite on them than washers thats for sure. it is good practice to put locktite on them anyway i suppose. I dont use it but some swear by it. the specs i gave were for the stock studs, i missed the hd part i guess but they should be the same at least. I would contact whoever made the studs or check their site and see what it says for their specs. from what i have understood they are different by about a pound or two. steve

verified enough to confidently say that 33 ft-lbs will do the trick with the hd studs. steve
