Still have stock ones, 416 isnt really using them to the extent I would like.

Playing with the converter: http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/400ex.htm

Going up to 16 teeth on the front gives gains all around.

A 20 dollar part overall for just the front sprocket seems worth it to me and will make 1st and 2nd much more usable.

Opinions?

^ So 16 tooth front vs 15 is what I should do?

It depends if your motor can pull your weight with that gearing. I went to a 36 rear sprocket. I weigh 130lbs with gear also....

Well, working that gearing calc a 36 rear would work too and be kinda close to a 16 front by a few mph.

Im 200lbs or so with gear and onyl ride trails and recreationally so.

I ride mostly trails and along side railroad tracks constantly crossing them and I chose to with a 14 tooth sprocket. And when I found one for $6.00 delivered to my house it was on lol. We went riding this weekend and I could tell the difference immediately. I have the 440 kit and the 14 tooth really makes the kit shine. Just my $.02 on the matter.

for faster trails and such the 16 is a great mod. I liked it better than the 14 which imo is too low for the 416. it will pull it easy enough and you can haul once you get it going. steve
