anybody heard why he crossed the finish without rear fenders? BTW no one has said anything about Bob Sloans 250R being on display, thought that was the best thing I saw the whole time I was there.

Post some pics.

Smiley probably stopped in the trail for a bathroom break and thought he could go faster with less drag from the rear fenders so he took them off and put them 20 feet up in a tree so he knew where they were. That's the best idea I can come up with.

That Sloan display was sweet and of all the pictures that I had I didn't get any pictures of it! My camera was back in the trailer at the time and I just didn't think to go back over there to get some shots of it. I'm still kicking myself for that one!

I think that I got a shot of that KX250 powered Roll quad... I will post it tonight when I get home if I have a good shot of it. I know that I have pictures of it from the 2000-2001 era when it was in brand new condition but I would have to find the prints and scan them in.

It was over next to Smiley's Roll quad in the pits.

I took some pictures of Bob Sloan's 250r. You can tell that it was used back in the day. It was very nice to see though.

I remember reading that Kawasaki custom molded those......

And that might be why. Does anyone make Tecate 3 plastics anymore?

From searching, the rear definitely is Tecate-3; the mojave doesn't have the cut out for the kick start like the tecate does.

All fenders appear available from Kawasaki still, and the tecate's are pretty cheap, they're just.........green. :ermm:

I plan on doing a few races next year . We are in the process of redoing the Lobo I have been running it was getting a litle beat up .Also don't be suprised to see me on the Kawasaki Lobo at some point. As far as the fenders go I had to do a fiter service in the corn field after the machine shut off from taking to much dust in the process I lost my hardware that holds on the fenders in the corn husks. I made it a couple miles sitting down to hold them on but lost them off a jump in the last open field and had to stand the last couple miles . with the quad barley running I was lucky to finish it wouldn't have made another lap.

I wondered about that, didn't sound like it was running very pure at the end, even when you crossed the finish. You weren't the only one with filter problems from what I understood. It was a pleasure watching you race, and briefly talking to you. Good luck to you next year IMO you proved you and a 250R are still very competitive in todays GNCC. Hope you make it to Ironman again next year.
