if your looking for somthing for just trail rideing i would get a polaris 250 trailblazer i had one for 8 years and sold to freind and ther still riding with nothing dun to it and you can find them cheap used .my 8 year old would ride one of our polaris scramblers 500 4x4 and that bike was heavy the trailblazer is the same but about 200 pounds lighter but that is a big bike for a 9 year old just so long he respects the machine and what it is capable of doing just do a lot of research good luck with that

1200, that will be tough. I would go with the yamaha 125.....It's a four stroke, big enough for them, and a good trail bike in its stock form. Just an opinion, dont think you'll get one for 1200. You get what you pay for and 1200 will get someone else's wore out junk.

Dont get a 2 stroke race bike for trail riding, you'll be sorry. Thats all I have, sorry I couldnt be more help.

Yeah 1500 isnt much but I was thinking more on the lines of outlaw 90s , honda 90s or a good knockoff 110 or 125 . Do you think they will out grow these to quick?

250ex or Polaris trailblazer would both be good bikes but they will be big/fast for beginner's. The Polaris will or should be cheeper but is still a good quad I road a trailblazer for 1 summer with few problems after over 1000 miles and quadfather will tell you if it holds up to me it must be pretty good lol. Good luck let us know what you find.

They probably will outgrow them. You could also look into an older model stock Blaster as they can be good trail bikes as well.

8-9 yr olds belong on mini quads.
It seems that as soon as a kid gets big enought ot ride the machine (instead of the machine riding him) the parent thinks the riders is too big.
I let my kids ride the LT230 at 12/13 but they had years of expierience.

agree they belong on minis thisone reason is why kids get hurt and atvs get a bad name for 1200to 1500 you should be able to find a good used 90

my boy is 11 and he is still on his outlaw 90. It still fits him ok. Its not the fastest quad, but there are some aftermarket parts for them. A stock Outlaw 90 is supposed to run @ 30mph. For my son it is still perfect for him.

We raced LT80's till 15 years old.
The racing rules have changed and allow a 250/300ex type 4 strokes at 13-15.
My answer would be 13..hehe

Ask Mywifesquad about jetmoto. I think he has a garage full or so..:)

Well if they've been trail riding your 525 already it seems they have more than enough experience. A Blaster is not that much bigger than an Apex as far as the rider area is concerned and there are plenty of 6 yr olds riding around on those. I'm sure most of us racing parents have seen the 5yr olds racing mini's. Looks like their riding the whole track standing up their legs are so short. Jam is 9 and also tall for his age and he fits the midsize bikes pretty good.

the most inportant thing make shore they have a helmet that fits and a neck brace i think rocky mtn atv still have the evs neck braces for 80.00 bucks and a chestprotector. i was thinking in my last post they are big bikes for a child but my 8 year old is on a 70 that can go at least 50 mph and clear 50ft tables but every kid is dferant my 8 yearold boy drives the front end loader around the house he drives every thing he can reach the peddles and my 16 year old has a drivers lic but is afraid to drive he wont evan sit on a quad. but like i sed before do a lot of research it should be a family fun thing you no what your kids a capabile of take care tommy
