I am looking into getting a GoPro HD Hero and I was wondering if anyone here had one. If so, what do you use to mount it to your helmet? I see they have a helmet pack, but I was wondering if I could get by with just the naked pack and the 3M stick pads.

I bought the Helmet pack a few months ago. I use the curved 3M adhesive with the standard quick release snap on the top of the helmet. I havn't tried to use the 3 Way Pivot Arm for the side of my helmet yet though. I figured I'd use the Helmet and Head strap's more than the giant suction cup.

The minimum to attach the camera to the helmet are: 3M adhesive (prefer the curved for helmets), Quick release buckle, and Case, Also you'll need one of the screws if the buckles dont come with one.

So to answer your question, yes you could get away with just the Naked edition.

Not to mention they have a 3D option coming soon!!!

That's what I figured. I was looking at this, GoPro HD Motorsports Hero (http://tinyurl.com/27lbt5e). I also found this GoPro HD Helmet Hero (http://tinyurl.com/2553d8l) a few weeks ago, but the auction ended. It says that there are still 87 available, so I messed the seller asking if they were still selling them.

And I saw that they had a 3D kit coming out, that's crazy. I can't believe how good of quality the little thing has. The 720p at 60 frames a second looks amazing in slow motion when you use a good editing program.

I just got my GoPro HD last week for my B-day. Will be trying it out for the first time this weekend.

I found this forum that has alot of good info...

The 3D is going to be a firmware upgrade, and a patch cable. You will need TWO GoPro HD's to record in 3D.

I'm looking forward to seeing the LCD Bakpac, and the Battery Bakpac, when they come out in December. Those will definately be on my Christmas wishlist.

HD Hero Nakes is all you need. You can get extra curved mounts for other helmets for $20. I got mine from "Point of View Cameras".
