my friends bike! nobody was injured but we now need 2 buy a new swingarm. i think i have a right to post this. must have been the metal quality

or it could have been stressed from previous rides and it just broke now. Eitherway, glad your both alright

but does raise a few questions ..was machine & part inspected well .. before the ride ? well maintained ?

That's racing, sometimes chit will break. I would be pissed, but I would also realize the company will probably accept no fault. They sell their parts for racing, doesn't matter how well it is built, it can be broke.

what i was saying is that there must have been a flaw in the metal for it to brake like that. the swingarm was only a year old?

not exactly how metal works. yeah it can be flawed but most metal has to have some sort of test wether it be a rockwell test or what to make sure all is well and meets standards. after that the welding process can affect it but when done correcly has little to none. yes their is a possibility. but stuff breaks. and like leager2fiddyr said if the shock wasnt set up right it can change how much leverage is where and add more force in a certain area and possibly cause stress cracking wich can result in failure.

turns out it was a stock swingarm powdercoated and a sticker put on.:rolleyes:

thats the problem with assumptions. you jumped all over laeger before finding out what actually happened to it. not to say that it wouldnt be a failure due to bad metal but it doesnt happen all that often. steve

its not my bike. my friend assumed it was laeger.. hes not sure. the guy who owned it first said he put on a new swingarm.

the fact that there was no welded seems should have gave it away.

don't know what caused the it to fail nor am i knocking leager but go with janssen i cracked my swinger and they replaced it and only asked where it cracked then they said ok send it in and we will repair if we can or replace. and they have life time guaruntee
