I'm doing a motor swap in my Blaster and I'm to the point of setting the intake and carb, but I'm having some interference with the gas tank. Well, some is an understatement. I need to work an area of about 3"x3" and move it about another 2" into the tank and on top of it, I also need to make a groove for the throttle cable to exit the top of the carb and run to the front. I've spent about 4 hours over the last week using a heat gun and gradually working the area, it's working but not nearly enough. I've thought about cutting the area and trying to plastic weld the tank but I'm very unsure on that one.
I'm almost to the point of abandoning the stock tank and making a custom steel fuel tank. I could possibly increase the capacity and still stay within the stock body work, but I'm hesitant to work with such a thin material.
The exhaust was a cake walk compared to the intake so far.
Just looking for some ideas.....
