are you wanting just a decent thump, or are you wanting to pound your trunk apart?

you can never go wrong with JL, Rockford,Alpine,

you could get a JL W3, and get atleast 5-600 watts going to it. get a nice box, and you'll be bumpin:cool:

also the Type R by alpine are some sweet subs, and not real expensive

I had a Kenwood KAC9105d amp and 2 kicker 12" cvr. they were pretty good and not much money. look on ebay. Don't cheap out on a box though

Look on Amazon for "RSD12D" or "RSD12". It's a Phoenix Gold sub. I bought one a little while back for a budget build I was doing and it sounded awesome! I just saw it on Amazon for $59, which is an absolutely crazy deal for that sub. Throw a decent amp on it and you will be shocked!

Amazon has some good deals on amps, too. Search for "class d amp". Get something name brand (Fosgate, Kenwood, Pioneer, MTX, Alpine, etc.).

Just my .02, but don't go with Rockford for subs. You can get better subs for the same price. Same with there amps IMO.

Rockfords philosophy-
Build a 3,000 watt amp
Market it as a 2000 watt amp
Sell it for the price of a 5000 watt amp

As for a $400 budget,
2 Audioque SDC's
1 Audioque 1200D.

Or for a single sub setup,
1 Audioque HDC3
1 Audioque 1200D

If your looking for a good set up, start with the head unit and speakers.

I have 2 JL Audio 12's and my car bumps. Its shaken the license plate almost off. They are hooked up to a 500 watt JL amp. Good set up.. A little pricey though with the box and everything.

Also not to hijack the thread.. but wheres a good place to get dynamat? My spoiler rattles like crazy

JL is for fegs...

I agree with YFZ-FoFiddy-TC

;)

I ♥'s da AQ.

Ive had 2 AQ HDC3 10"s, 1 HDC3 18", AQ 3500D, and an AQ1200D. All great stuff and really good prices.

A lot of people over look amps. I would say about 70-80% of people are running clipped garbage watts which in return kills subs and doesn't sound clean. Audioque does there rated power clean with no clipping. Make sure you set the gains with an O-Scope or DMM if a scope isn't available to you.

haven't really followed audio in the last 5 or so years, but i had an alpine type S that was great. think it was rated at like 13mm xmax (i'm a sealed box with low crossover frequency setting kindof guy.. i like the 20-50hz bass, not the boomy, muddy rap-oriented mid-bass). i pushed it with a crossfire CFA-30HC (old school!) amp. dunno if crossfire has gone the way of so many reputable companies, but they made great amps a few years ago too.

you can get an alpine S for <$100 on ebay now, new. plannin on picking up another over the winter

I see your from PA. How close are you to Binghamton? I have a friend who has a list of things he wants to get rid of. I know he has an Alpine Type-R 15" and a pair of Audiobahn DUB 10's. Not sure what else.

They might do okay, might want to look into an SA-8 or DC lvl 2 8".

SA-8 (http://woofersetc.amazonwebstore.com/SA8-D2-Sundown-Audio-8-Dual/M/B003ZWG25M.htm?traffic_src=froogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=froogle)
The DC lvl 2 8's are about $100 each with shipping. You have to order them from Rusty himself. If you're interested in the DC's I can get you rusty's contact information.

Here's the specs for the lvl 2 8" as well.

Either way, buy your equipment from crutchfield .com . I have always bought my stereo equipment from them. Most orders the shipping is free, and if you have any questions about installation you can call em up most any hour of the day and they have knowledgeable techs that WILL HELP YOU. Besides that their prices are pretty good and all of the install parts come with the purchase and they give you a return stamp in-case you have to return something.

Go with 2 Sundown SA-8"s They are perfect in .8 cubes each ported and love the lows. tune to 33 hz.

Run them on an AQ 1200D or Sundown 1200D

Buy the amp from Audioque (only place you can)

Here is where you can get the SA-8"s
http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Sundown-Audio-SA%252d8-Sub-woofer.html

Screw Crutchfield with their high prices.

I have 2 SA-8s in 1.85 cubes tuned to 33hz on an AQ1200D. I love them.

I pre ordered mine from Jacob before they were out for $99 each shipped.

If you want to overpay for audio then buy crutchfield. Otherwise go to woofersetc or another decent online shop.

I wouldn't run a 12 in .92 cubes, I would go with the 8's. Gaurantee you'll be happier.

Yeah, Crutchfield is overpriced. I got all my stuff from sonicelectronix.com. Theyll have everything youll ever need for low prices and a huge selection.
