Nice build, it sounds pretty good and seems like you went with a good combo. Gotta do the hotcam tho, take advantage of all that power.

Get a CRF450 timing chain (iirc 2002), much stronger than the EX chain and fits on great! Also cheaper :)

cjm i already have the hotcams stage 1,are you saying i should put a stage 2 in it for more power?
i only trail ride and go up a few big hills once in a while.
i am looking for advice on this 400ex so let me know what you would do if it was yours.
thanks for the reply

It sounds really good. I have similar mods, and I really like the stage 1 cam. My only thought is that you're probably going to want to end up closer to a 160-162 main, although a 175 won't hurt anything and it might stay a little cooler while you break it in. Did you change the pilot jet? If not, you may want to pick up a 42 pilot also. The 400ex is the deal of the century right now if you can pick one up under $1K and do a rebuild like you did. If done right, you can have a quick, reliable quad for well under $2K.

You should really enjoy the stage 1 hotcam if you ride mostly trails! Sounds really healthy though. Quad looks to be like it is in good shape too. Good find!
