bahahahahah hell no... if you have to ask if you should upgrade to a ltr then your prolly way to inexperienced to get on a 450.... stick with your little z400 for now. lmfao

bigbad400 your a douche kid he was asking if the forums thought it would be a good idea and if there were problems with the quad he didnt ask for some 400ex riding hero to come act tough over the internet imo you should l2 tie a noose and fall off a chair <33 :)

obviously i upgraded genius look at the signature not the name. and the " little 400ex" i had a year ago would prolly have walked all over many of your ltrs. it was a 460 stroker with a 12.5:1 comp J.E racing piston, 450r carb bored out to 42mm by curtis sparks racing and the only stock honda parts left on it when i sold it was the swingarm, the plastics and the motor cases. it was fully built from the ground up with over 8,000$ in aftermarkets. honestly it was faster than my ltr i have now. so u can talk but i know....:D

so since nobody can take a joke on here ill give you my 2 cents.... the honda 450 is good start for someone who wants to make a woods racer, you dont have to narow it down like some otheres for woods. also the can am has a woods package and so does the yami. if your looking for a mx quad hands down the ltr will dominate in stock form, it has amazing power and its 49 inches wide so you can run mx without doing any suspension, can am and yami also have a mx package. the kawi is a fuel injected quad built alot like a stock honda 450, they are narrow from the factory, but have alot of power ... almost feels like too much with how light the front of these machines feel.... i have rode every 450 there is to ride including the highland 450 thats made in america. if you can afford a 12-14000$ quad they will set it up for you factory with elka shocks and either an mx stance 49 inches wide on 20/18 tires, or a woods stance 42-43 inches wide with 22/20 tires, comes with kenda klaw xc or mx depending on the package..... there i gave you all the info you need to decide what you want to test ride..... dont buy an ltr cus you like suzuki, buy the quad your gonna be happy with based on what your gonna do with it. do you want carb or fuel injection? do u want mx or xc? do you have deep pockets? ktm is the dominate quad in stock trim but if you plan on building it or costomizing it you cant do alot with a ktm or can am because the aftermarket industry does not support them near as much as honda yami zuki and kawi. so think about all those points.... then make up your own mind.

some will say things about third gear going out and some will say things about fuel problems.... the truth is everyone of them 450s has a problem that ull have to pay attention to, i have yet to see a bad 3rd gear on about 7 or 8 ltrs at our local track, from 06 to bran new. mine is a 07 with stock motor and its still running strong and has no motor noises or anything, and it was rode enough to bald stock tires before i bought it. i put 25 hrs a week on the thing, and i had it for about a year now. lol and im never nice to it. i have seen more blown up honda 450s than anything else, and i have seen more fuel issues with the kawasaki 450s than any other. biggest thing ive seen go wrong with the suzukis at the track is wheel bearings... for some reason these things eat up front wheel bearings... not just mine everyone on the track here has replaced them more than once.

so now im the only one that gave real advice and im the one you all gave **** to for trying to be funny. i found it funny the way the question was asked i knew what you were asking. :D

Bigbad has good points. All of the 450's are fast and all of them have their own problems. Like he said just buy the quad you feel is right for you and the riding you do.

I'm guessing he is talking pesos.

Honestly any 450 is good and they have their problems but they are a race quad not a trail quad. The ltr is a good quad I just don't like the way it feels so I got a honda. Get a ltr after you ride every other 450 and decide the ltr feels the best.

i love my ltr. i thought it sat a little high in the back at first but my other bike i had before was extrelmy low in the back. so we made a 4 3/4 in lower rear subframe for my ltr and i love it

honestly im not impressed, i have seen so many built 450rs that i just dont even pay attention. its still a honda. build a zuki and i might be impressed. look at the new issue of dirt wheels. the article "fastest of the fast"...... guess whos first in line, the suzuki 450. :o

and id be willing to bet that my old 460 stroker would still give your built 450 motor a run for its money... my ltr is piped and chipped and opened up and it was faster than my ltr. you built a motor ment to be built. i built a motor made for trails to rip on built 450s.... when u make a 28hp 400ex have 54hp on 110 octane then ill be impressed. :D

most of your claimed 8000 motor is in a rekluse clutch and port job and labor. you got about 3000 in goodies on it and you must claim they make you faster....? i guess im confused how you spent 8 gs on a piston clutch and cam, with a port job....

"no its not id smoke you" "nuh uh id smoke you" lol what are you guys in kindergarden?

hey Y man dont focus so much on year as you should on condition of the bike and the price range your looking for. If you find something you like post it on here and we can help you value it. I work for a bank in lending for recreational/leisure vehicles and deal with valuing a lot and would be glad to help! if you dont want to post it feel free to pm me! - Lane

im trading my 04 z400 and some cash for it. needs the lights relocated, gotta splice the neutral light wires together, and extended throttle cable cuz the bars are little higher. and maybe extend the brake line from the lever to the t block
