i was wondering if anyone on here has any experience powdercoating(aluminium, steel, ect). basically from my research it says there is alot of prep that has to go into doing this(solvents, primers?). but iv also read were it just needs to be stripped and then coated.

basically if you could explain the process of how you do it and how well it has held up that would be great.

All you need is a clean bare metal surface then coat it and throw it in the oven

I took to covers off and wired wheels them then progressed with stages of light sanding until everything was smooth. The side covers I put in the over for a while to bake out the oil out of the metal. After that everything was sprayed down with brake cleaner. I wouldn't advise doing this in your daily over fyi. I have some junk oven in the garage just for pcing.

I just put some tech structural design info in the can-am section you may want to read first.....give you some things to consider. Thread is called "DS450 frame PC".

heres the proper way to do it.

sandplast. use hi temp tape on all surfaces you dont want coated. then spray part. go over with flash light making sure you didnt miss anything or didnt coat thich enough. then bake around 400 (pappy maybe you can reinforce that number) then let bake from 15 to 20 mins depending on what your using.

after time is up ive found best thing to do is turn over off crack door and let cool so nothing in air gets on the part

i've got a home PC rig.

Sandblast
coat
bake
done

i put hardly no prep work into my stuff and it always turned out nice and holds up strong.
