That darn cat drug this thing in today... i am not quite sure what i am gonna do with it, all i know it is a blast to rip on for a bit. I only rode it a couple of miles down the trail and back tonight though since it is getting dark outside.

its def different than riding the 400 thats for sure. :D It is my project machine for next summer! I cant wait to get it cleaned up a bit and get a new seat cover for it. Im not sure what i want to do with the fenders on it but they need some supports or something. needs new tires, rims, some paint, and a bit of tlc to get it perfect again. not bad for 750 bucks. :D it was just rebuilt about 30 hours ago and had new bearings and everything a the same time so that is all done. the guy def knew what he was doing since he has 3 of them and has one that is right around 70hp that was a 350 and pretty wicked. this was a basketcase style one since he had all of the parts for it already he figured since he had so many parts he would build this one and another for spares for friends to ride. steve

i even got a full set of stock width arms, and 2 rear shocks. the one is complete and needs a recharge, and the other is just the body with no spring on it. I wish i would have got the swing arm from him but forgot about it. so i think i got a pretty good deal on the machine. steve

What a steal, nice find man. Looking at the pics I actually thought it was pretty clean but for only 750 you did well on that one.

it will probably stay pretty close to what it is now. it is all stock except for the pipe, rad valve, and the reeds. it was rebuilt using all stock new parts or at least stock bore parts. he said it had around 170 psi so that is pretty good. I just want to get it cleaned up a bit, give it a bit of tlc and restore it back to as close to factory as i can. I have some of the gold rims already so that is cool. Ill see if i can find some to put some razrs on otherwise ill find some nice douglas or something to put on it. I want it to be a clean look but not real crazy. lol I was going to redo the frame black but it has the original red on the frame ill probably leave it. i have some black stuff to touch with black again and make look new, polish up the fenders a bit and probably trim them up a bit to make it less flappable while riding. I am going to leave it the stock width i think and keep the arms and swinger the same just give it a fresh coat of paint. it needs a new skid plate for the rear since it is tore up a bit but may be able to be straightened out, and pretty much a seat cover and that will be it be good to go. :D Im not really worried about how it looks right now since it runs good and will rip it nicely till snow falls. lol it will be great since it is in good condition already and has just about everything there already. even the lights work on it :D i rode it down the road to the trail and down that for a bit tonight when i got it off the trailer, it is always good to have some of that 2 stroke smell around, reminds me of sledding. plus it has turbo blue in it now so that smells good too. ill only be running 91 in it though at 32:1 ratio lol. i cant run 110 in all of my stuff, none of them would ever get ridden at 6 a gallon. lol steve

i wish i could lol it is worth quite a bit more than that as it sits now. i almost felt bad about taking it from him for that. lol he rides arctic cats and drives a ford though so i was ok with it. lol if he drove a chevy and drove skidoo it would have been a different story lol. steve

It's a pretty comical site actually... especially when she catches a good hit in her mouth... her cheeks blow out and it makes a popping helicopter sound.

nice upgrade. i got a 250r in 2002 and my highly built 1999 400ex sat for 8 years before i finally sold it. then i built a 400ex/250r hybrid and now my 250r sits. prefer the ergonomics of the 400ex with the two stroke performance.

my dog does the same thing! as soon as i fire my quad up he starts chasing me and attacking the tires like he's trying to herd me or something.

i have to put the dog up when i'm riding he's too much.

dude you posted that like 4 times.

Honda doesn't make any parts for the bike anymore. The only thing it makes would be an interchangeable part that is made for a newer honda quad.

I see side cases on ebay left and right fellas, i don't think you have much to worry about.

throwing a chain won't go through the case 10 times out of 10 anyway. now a big rock on the other hand.....that can happen.

you can still get some new OEM parts.

i lost a left crankcase from a chain coming off. i also nicked a different case with the chain where the clutch arm goes and it leaked a bit of oil til i put some JB weld on it.

yeah dude no offense f4iracer but I've deff seen a chain come off 1 time and tear threw my friends case like it was a wet tissue and also jcs is correct honda still makes some stuff for us 250 riders but a lot of it is being discontinued and also case halves on ebay aren't always what there cracked up to be unless there brand new which = big money

my chain seamed to think it was a good idea to break while i was in 6th gear fully pinned at top speed, my case saver didn't stand a chance! lucky i scored a case half of 25 shipped off of ebay. new case saver for 25, 2 new spockets and chain for 120 and a chain roller for 10, all in all kind of an expensive day, over 200 bucks after oil and lube, i didn't need the spockets and roller but if your going to do it, might as well do it right!

A thrown chain on a 250R WILL bust a case! If it dont, consider yourself lucky.


I would look into these casesavers, very trick looking, plus they wrap around the shifter shaft. A guy on EBAY sells them.

lol nice! i am already looking for parts for the christmas list. lol i pretty much have everything already in my cart for the 250.

at least the chain, sprockets, seat cover, skid plate, looking at asv levers, razrs, .190 douglas rims so it isnt too flashy, brake pads, i have to get some cables, probably some new bars, as close to stock fenders as possible or at least some cool ones, case saver, bars, and a bunch more. it wont be getting ordered for a long time though lol. steve

i got a red seat cover coming, a stock tool box with mounts, i got a stock skid plate to replace the one that is broke, and have a few other things to get to finish it up.

that should cover the rest of the machine and then it will be good to go again. I will be taking all of the black stuff off of it and repainting it so that it will look new again. the red frame will be left alone since it is original. I will either redo the arms or if they clean up nice after a good cleaning ill leave them along with the fenders since they are in good condition also. I will probably do a bit of trimming on both the fronts and rears to clean them up a bit and take out one burn spot from the exhaust then they will be done too. otherwise it is a done deal. the chain and such are in good condition so i wont be getting those for a while. other than that it should be finished up mostly. :D ill take pics when i get some of the stuff on it and get it all cleaned up. steve

i also have razrs to get for the 400 and an asv mounting bracket too to match my levers. then that is all done too. That will be a 426 or a refreshed 416 sometime but not for another year or so i dont think. I forgot about that piece until i was looking at the asv stuff today. lol steve

thanks! It will be a cool project to do again. it will remain mostly stock since it will stay a classic and wont be my main machine to ride. I wont let the hundy sit that long that is my pride and joy. lol the 400 can still use some stuff but they are just small things. i wanna get another one of those too one day so that i can finish modding mine out. I wanna have a completely stock 400 to go with my 250r. :D I wanna get another 800x also to keep completely stock and mod out the one that i have now too. those are really the only other 2 toys i really want to get one day. lol it is tough though to get them all at one time since i have a very limited income to work with lol. summer work makes it tough to get everything i wanna get for all of the toys plus get more of them. lol one day i will have a garage full of 250s, 400s, and 450s. maybe even a 250x, 250ex, and a 300ex in there too. to go with my zx chassis sled and 2 revs lol. but im sure by the time i get all of those toys ill have others to get too. hopefully not though. the rest will just be a bonus after the stock rev and the stock 400 though. steve:blah:
