ok im getting ready for a topend over haul. my motor smokes horrible and it just needs a new piston period. im geting all new bearings in the topend, valve stem seals ect. but before i tear her down can you tell if your crank is bad??? my motor does not vibrate alot. its pretty low in vibration. and their are no nocking or any other werid noises in the bottom end. other then the sound of the crank turning. think i will need a crank or am i good?

if there is no metal shavings in your oil and no up and down play in your rod you are more then likely good if you have no other reason to suspect it to be bad.

Id just take it apart and feel the play in the crank and see what you think. If you are worried about it you could just replace it. crank, bearings and gasket kit will run you about $340 but peace of mind is priceless! lol

Id say you can "feel it out" or measure for tolerances.....or do like Rubbersdown said.....good excuse for a shiny new bottom end ;)
