400ex 2nd gear gone

fresh 440 kit in my 400ex ran great til 2nd gear started grinding an not goin any where any ideas on what it could be or if theres a kit i can buy to rebuild a tranny.......

gear dogs are probably chingered up and not letting it engage. Same thing happened to my bro in laws 400 but in 3rd gear. Time to split the cases. There is no kit, you have to buy individual gears but its usually cheaper to get get a complete used low hour tranny off of ebay because the individual hears are like $80 each when you can get get a complete tranny on ebay for like $150.

I bet yours look just like his did. here is his 3rd gear. see how the engaging slots are all messed up because it was not engaging right. The grinding noise is actually the gears engaging 1/2 way and then disengaging over and over very quickly (whatever RPM your at).
