Am I missing something here? :huh

Who gives a **** if it's in the original crate? I get that people list stuff for outrageously high prices, but it's getting bids! :eek2:

Yup, I couldn't believe my eyes! When I posted it, it was at like $45,500 and the reserve wasn't met!

Last year I saw an original owner-ed ATC 250R that had been freshly restored to it's original shape going for like $10,000 or $11,000, and I thought THAT was outrageous.

For $45,000 think what you could buy... here's what I'd buy:

1 KTM 525 XC quad
1 Can Am Outlander 800 XC quad
1 KTM 300XC dirtbike

And used truck and used sports car! $45k for that thing is ABSURD. At the same time... if it's worth this much NOW, imagine what it's gonna be worth in 10-20 years....!

I dont think anyone bidding is serious, specially after he posted that message about bs bidders.

Lets consider the following:
-Its never run and in pieces
-45k is an insane price
-the sellers and idiot, no one is gonna even come close the asking price..

Now, if it was an all original yenko super camaro...i just might pay 45k if i had it laying around.

I’m confused, if it is used like it said then how can it have 0 miles? And it also said it was disassembled and repacked, so it's a used 250r. who gives a rats ***** about an old cardboard crate that is falling apart anyway. I bought a used 86- 250r in real nice condition a few years ago and only paid $1800.00 for it. I road it for a few months and sold it for $2800.00.

Sounds like someone found an old crate and put a disassembled 250r in it and looking to clean up. sad thing is some dumb ***** will buy it.

I think that the bidders ARE real... most likely they are wealthy guys earning the big bucks now who had one of these back when they are a kid and want to re-live the glory of owning a brand new one.

Most likely someone will buy it and just have it sit in their garage for the next 20 years or so...

if i won the lotto, this thing would be mine

repost somebody posted it in the 250r section, but i cant believe people are actually bidding on this

this trike back in 86 sold for a lil over 2 grand. hes making 20x profit and personally i could find somethin better to sink 40k+ into. id sink it into a house or invest it in some land or anything.

hell imo the 3 wheeler is worthless because who wants to pay that kind of money for something and not ride it. id been done put it together and rode the piss out of it i wouldnt pay that kind of price for something just to be a big *** paper weight or a space occupier because thats pretty much all it is.

Read his Q&A

That is a huge part in history. Any collector would die for something of that caliper, I hope who ever does buy it keeps it in that crate, in a climate controlled room. and put it in a bubble.

Q: If it is mint in the crate, why are you saying it is "used"? Oct-09-10 A: Think about that for a few minutes. Do you remember back in 1987 when the CPSC put a ban on sales of NEW three wheeled ATVs in the US. Thanks!

Reserve was met at $46,000. He never said that the guy who bid $75,000 didn't meet the reserve, he just said that the guy was trying to figure out was the reserve was.

you guys who would blow your money on some other production toys from a financial standpoint are idiots, this is 1 of a kind and if ppl are pushing the bids this high this quick its only going to be worth more money, buy a truck for 45k and lose 30 in 5 yrs,who knows is 10 yrs what this thing might bring, theres been plenty of cherry ones but this is the first brand new in a crate ive seen

its only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Even if I had the cash its pointless junk to me cause its nothing more than a bunch of parts in a box. Maybe if it was put together and ran and I could put it on display and stuff.

x2 on that like i said its nothing but a big paper weight, or a space occupier. hell i imagine if you bought that thing youd have to put insurance on it because what if some crooks decide on day or night they want to own themselves a brand new 86 honda 250r then ur screwed and tattooed because ud be out of 1 hell of a chunk of change

If I had the money, I'd but a brand new KTM or something (in the crate) put it in my attic and forget about it! Then when I am 60 or so, bring it down, sell it, and live off that for my retirement!

That trike is only 24-25 years old.. imagine a limited edition 450 40-50 years!?

Imagine: a mint in the crate bike from 1940-1950s! Wow!

its the best of a machine that will never again be produced, theyll be building quads for yrs, and if they stop it will be devalued because it means atving is over

a 85 lt 250r is prob one of the only machines on 4 wheels that at some point may have some value

What about the TRX250R? Original Banshee? LT500? I think there are plenty of possible candidates out there. Even YFZ450s, LTR450s, TRX450Rs, KTMs, etc etc..... any of the current sport 450s, if kept in the shipping crate for the next 30-40 years, will be worth something for sure.
