400ex regulator wiring help

So I go to put my motor back in the quad and I notice the black wire going to the regulator has been cut or broke. I look at the wiring diagram and according to that it looks like all it does is goes to the neutral light and to the handlebar switch where im assuming is where it gets its power from. So should I take the time to rewire this part right now or will the bike start and run fine without it and I can just fix it later?

id fix it now just so you dont forget about it. I would think that it should run though without it. not really sure though, but wouldnt do it to find out. fuses could blow, bulbs could burn out, or something who knows. lol steve
