Just wondering what everyone thinks the top 5 front ends (a-arms/shock) setup would be on a honda. I am in the works of getting all new stuff so I am just trying to see what everyone else likes. Walsh is out of the picture just because of the price.

Im set on fox or peps but no idea on the arms yet

Gibson makes some with high ground clearance if your riding woods its the way to go!
Leager makes some nice arms, JB are good, but it really depends on what type of riding, if your not racing or doing freestyle, then you could get by with Houser. I would get long travel!! and as far as shocks I like pep. and I would stay away from any air shocks! but thats me!

well i guess the new buzz is around the LTR front end setups, walsh and JB are both selling them. It allows you to use LTR spindles and hubs which apparently improves the handling pretty good. right now you have to use LTR brakes too but walsh is making a brake adapter soon. Fox and Pep are good shocks, many people dont like the fox rears but after you get them re-valved they work good.

I some what agree, but would put Teixeira before Houser or ATV 4 play.

Teixeira
ArsFX
GT Thunder
Laeger (The Borich setup)
Houser

For MX (Excluding Walsh) Gibson, JB, ATV Four Play, Houser, Laeger, Lonestar, and ARSFX I would say are top companies to base off of. Matters what shock company works with what arm more. You see alot of Walsh/PEP fronts (for example) because PEP spent alot of time designing their valving for those arms. Making sure your shocks are valved for the arm is the biggest part in making a front end work correctly.

Can't go wrong with any of those.

Thanks for all of the input. BTW it is for MX

When I finally decide what I want. Who should do most people go to?

also I have houser swing arm but I currently don't have a LT shock. Can I use this swing arm with a LT shock? Do I need to buy a new linkage or a whole new swing arm?

Has anybody tried this new set up? Does it really improve handling and cornering? I'm considering thise set up.

I was probably a week early when I ordered all my walsh stuff before they had the LTR setup ready to sell. If i would have known i would have waited.

On the other hand, my 09 honda is night/day difference in handling than my 05 and I really don't know how much better it would be with the LTR setup. My 09 is the best bike I've ever had.

If you really want the best setup get ahold of seth at sfracing he knows his **** and will get you the best setup for what you want to pay and as for the swing arm it will depend on the linkage as well shock ppl will need to know both what swing arm you have and the linkage that you are using

I use the laeger pro-trax (t-pin) front I think it is the best hands down.. but if price is a problem i'm sure you can't do it.

Teixeira Tech a-arms and Motowoz shocks.

My top vote is Walsh, but Houser makes some KILLER stuff... easy to adjust and dial in, and made very very well

The new KOQ pro comp a-arms, and motowoz shocks. they are very similar in design to the big manufacturers, at about 1/2 of the price

i like how the guys says "if your not racing or freestyle then you can get away with houser" serious man? lol i raced pro b last year and this year going to pro a. i have never had a single problem with them and i run all there stuff. swinger nerfs arms stem.

Thats why you'll see most guys set their 06+ Hondas with 04-05 hubs and spindles and a walsh savior or E-Z Link... they handle much better

Houser's stuff is top notch... I had Tric-Trac on my Kawi and it was a great set-up.

Im an A-class racer nationally and locally (not that it matters)

I've had JB stuff on all my bikes. Fox Floats or custom axis shocks work awesome. But im just speaking from what i've owned. Walsh and fox or PEP is prob the best feeling ive rode, in my opinion. Also the most expensive to. And for the price if your on a budget( like most of us are) ive heard alot of good stuff about Blaines bike. (motowoz/ SMC) But Theyre all good and work well. So i dont think you can go wrong with any of them.

I say PEP/Houser
Ive rode with fox, texeira
fox, lonestar
pep, lonestar,
pep laeger,
and elka,houser
and the pep/houser will wayyy outperform any of these. ive never rode with walsh or jb though

I dont really understand how you say that considering it is all the same except for the spindles and everyone uses 05 spindles because they handle better

I just saying that because they are the only arms that I have actually seen cracked ...they belonged to a friend that pounded his stuff, and they really didnt hold up to serious abuse! so I personally would still use them but if I was looking at them I wouldn't us there sport line

I say get a spring shock for the Honda's. the air shocks tend to dive when cornering hard. My axis pro-air/walsh flow front end is better than with the fox evols, but they still want to dive more than a spring shock. I am VERY interested in Motowoz. I have yet to hear anything bad about them, just like PEP

^^^^ true. I have noticed that a little. I like my Axis triple rates a little better i think.

people like 05 spindles cause they are beefier.. I personnaly use laeger spindles.

10-11-2010, 11:08 AM
What about stadium suspension?
On my 06 I personally run 04/05 spindles with axis/houser max clearence and I love the way it turns.

DEVINF450R
10-13-2010, 06:55 AM
i thought the 04/05 spindles had the a-arm/tie-rod mounts further inside the tire for less bump steer and faster cornering... with my stock spindles on my 08 I had to turn the bars about 10feet sooner than i do with 04/05 spindles...

Is there also difference in the steering stem?
Not only the year but also the brand of the steering stem

As far as bump steer goes, yes. Some are much better then others when it comes to getting rid of bump steer or reducing it.

ct350trx
10-13-2010, 02:32 PM
And which brand is better?

Dave400ex

GT Thunder, ArsFX, Teixeira Tech, and Houser's Reduced Bump Steer stem all have the steering flag relocated.

And the steering stem from Janssen motorsport?

Not sure on that one, it doesn't say anything about it on their site but that doesn't mean it's not.

I have used both standard travel Axis/Houser on my 400EX and 450r. This combo has worked very well for me. You don't see me jumping huge jumps but for being an XC guy, this suspension combo worked very well for MX. They are Axis Dual rate comp/rebound adjustment by the way.
