Im running a 41mm sudco fcr on my 416 and I will tell you that getting the jetting right will take a long time. These carbs seem quite finicky to temperature and altitude changes more than any other carb I have ran. However, if you get it dialed in, they are amazing.

Your best bet is honestly to go with an 04-05 TRX450R carb, cheaper and much easier to dial in and not a noticeable difference in power compared to an FCR.

450r carb gets my vote, it is an fcr so you can say that also

The 04-05 450R's do not run an FCR carb. They run a 42mm butterfly type carb. The 06-current 450R's run a 40mm FCR.

If the 04-05 were an FCR then why is it such a popular mod for the owners of the 04-05's to replace their carbs with an FCR?

Here are two exerpts from Honda's features and benefits of the 450R.

The 04-05 model. (http://www.atvsource.com/manufacturers/honda/2005/450r.htm)

42mm Keihin butterfly-type carburetor features light throttle effort, smooth operation and excellent rideability.

The 06-current. (http://www.atvsource.com/manufacturers/honda/2009/450r.htm)

40mm Keihin FCR-type carburetor features four rollers on the flat slide, resulting in very light throttle effort, smooth operation, crisp throttle response and excellent rideability.

Just trying to cut down on any misinformation or confusion.

I have a Sudco 39mm fcr flat slide carb on mine.Very easy to get tuned.Has no choke.Even on cold days three pumps on the gas and it would fire right up.Made a huge difference on my 416.
