View Full Version : 400ex engine temps...where we at?

Just curious...
I rebuilt my 400ex two years ago and went with a Wiseco 10:1 (too keep it close to stock) piston that was .010 over. I swear since then my 400 runs warmer.
Question is...
If you guys know of any temps (oil, head, header, crankcase) what are they, how did you measure them, and what was the outside (ambient) air temp?
Thanks all, thought it might be a good "tuning" thread too.

my oil temps are around 200-230 at normal temps hot would be 250. i would shut it down anything over that for sure. steve

Nice way to get an oil temp is with an XR's only oil dip stick (im deff gonna get one here soon) its just a thermometer that is integrated into a dipstick, plus i think it looks pretty cool
