Anybody ever been there? Me and Texas400 are wanting to go around Christmas. What's it like? Where do you camp? How much money would you recommend bringing? We're coming from Texas.
My mom's all worried about the dang Mexican cartel, is that a concern. Any input?

When are you going? Me and some friends from Houston may be interested in a trip out there.

I was there last Christmas, it was incredible. The weather was about 60-70 degrees, the locals thought it was cold lol.
There was one day where the wind didn't let up and caused a sand storm effect, but other than that it was great.
We camped at the end of the Gecko road up on the north side, pulled off the pavement, with bathrooms.
And we are going back this year without a doubt

Glamis is one of the greatest places ive ever rode. I live in Phoenix and usually get out there 2-3 times a year. It's truly unlike anything else ive ever seen. It's an atmosphere like you can't find anywhere else lol! You camp in "washes", basically just big fields of hardpacked sand where everybody camps. From there, your just a short quad ride to the hills, drags, Sand Highway etc.. Money's up to you completely. If you really prepare for it, you can almost get away with not paying for anything extra. But there's always booths and stuff for you to buy stuff at. Also, you might want to bring some cash just in case something breaks. Itd be a real bummer to drive from texas and have something break down the first day. As for the cartel's, just keep your mouth shut and they wont bother you! Just kidding, ive never seen/heard of any problems with that, especially since the fence!

I would definitely recommend the California dunes to anybody! Feel free if you've got any more questions!

Get your permit for each street vehicle you bring

http://www.imperialsanddunes.net/

with out of state plated the Leo's will check, Have safety flag for your quads and bring you quads registration or your stay may be longer and not at the dunes. No water at the dunes so bring some you can buy at vener row or at the store but you will pay 100 to 200% mark up can of soda goes for $5.00. get some sand goggles for when the sand blows they are the only thing that will keep sand out of your eyes

Well, we were hoping around Christmas, but I have a feeling that's not gonna happen. Haven't talked to my buddy about it in a while, need to find out.
