Let me start this thread by saying I'm 6'4" and 295 lbs. I also need to say that money is an issue and I have owned both displacements in the form of an ESR 295 long rod motor and a Duncan 340pv motor.
That being said, this will be an mx motor for local tracks and practice days and not serious national caliber racing.
I like a hard bottom / mid pull and the "wind out" or rev of a 250cc.
The reason for asking your opinion is, my concern for the extra 35 lbs. that I have put on since I last owned both of these.
Opinions?

Matt

i was wondering the same thing, I have had 295's and 310's, but never a 330, is there really that much of a difference with the extra 20cc's (330 vs. 310) ?

bigmatt, you had the 340pv from duncan, i assume that does not fit the budget? how did that compare to the 295 you had?

1 thing to consider with 330's as esr is the only 1 you do not have to machine the cases with. I read some site(a builders site) that the price difference was little to no difference, and it only makes sense to go with the 330. I went with a 295/310, and wish i would have gone bigger. That is for a mx setup btw, as i think a slower reving motor suits my riding style better. just my .02

You’re size & weight dictates a 330R as the best choice…I would be leery of any 330R that you did not need to bore the cases out.

The sleeve gets to thin and more likely to fracture at the bottom.

My 2 cents worth…

Carlos.
