call the guy you bought it from and ask him if he had it serviced for the recall. the recall was from the reverse spring kit. it would go into reverse without turning the knob there for destroying tranny when down shifting and possibly causing a bad wreck. had it done to mine

yeah its a really clean bike but im pretty sure i need to take it back for the shop to fix the recall. my dad told me somthing about there being an x above the shifter of the ones that were fixed.

I never even knew there was a recall!!?? haha. I bought my 05 about 3 and a half years ago used. I am pretty sure it was never fixed for the recall. Dont you think the reverse problem would have happened by now? Is it too late to take it in?

It's never too late for a recall, I used to work at a car dealership and there would be ppl that came in for 10+ year old recalls.

Does anybody know what they do to fix it? Do they have to go into the trans?

no in 07 they had it taken care of, and yes they have to go into the trans

I almost dont want to bring it in. haha. I feel like more problems will arise if they break into the trans that i have had no problems with for 5 years.
