thinking of getting a 2011 ds450x mx. how are the frames?

The DS 450 frame is pretty good, it is the only atv frame i didn't broke yet. I broke my z400 frame at many places, my LTR cracked around the pegs area. My brothers have a had a trx450r and a yfz450. The baddest frame on the market goes to the TRX, after 2 seasons everything falls appart and you need to spend a lot of time gusseting and welding on it. The DS450 are inexpensive to repair if they broke cause they use interchangeable parts.

from what i hear they're great, jus the reinforcement kit is needed because they do tend to bend/crack in the front near the radiator and near the footpegs... but there are things you can buy to make sure it doesn't happen...


im also lookin to sell my honda 450 for a 2011 ds mx, where bouts are you lookin to buy yours from?

The latest frontal renforcement kit should already be on the 2011. BRP, BCS, ATV4play made kits for this area for 2008-2009(BRP on most stock) models. BRP redesigned it in 2010, not sure what 2011 looks like yet, but we have seen no failures of the 2010 frame this race season out here.

Legacy109 the word your looking for is 'replaceable', as far as I know the DS450 frame parts do not interchange with some of the others like DS650, etc.....The DS frame members can be purchased through BRP, BCS, MW's, and on EBAY.

It's had some isolated issues in the past and lessons learned, but IMO the 2010-2011 DS is the strongest AL frame on the market.

Wow, I hope you are right. If we could buy the individual chassis parts if one broke or bent that would be great, but so far from all of my hunting I cannot see these standard parts available on any web site. I have looked on ebay, BCS and Motoworks with no luck. Can you help me out?

These front 2008--2009 frame members the only known area that breaks often and reinforcement kits BCS, BRP, MW can get......diagram below shows the new 2010 z-channel we've seen no failure so far. I dunno about other frame parts we don't see failures on often, usually from a crash they either get repaired out here or I have seen lots of peeps parting thier quad/frame out. Do a search they are all over this site.

I have a bulletin from BRP according replacement parts for the DS frame.
From what i can tell you have to order the parts from the race department.
It is a PDF file so i cant get it uploaded here( not a computer wiz;) but i can email to someone, maybe you want it Terry?

hey i have roughly 140hours on my canam and i race it just about every weekend in xc i have broken the frame but my dealer can get the parts its quite easy to fix ive done it myself they are strong running machines id buy another one
