I'd go with a Can-Am or LTR-450 if it were my choice.

thats kinda like askin what flavor ice cream you should get. but a ltr or a yfz seems like the best choices for mx i really dont have any seat time on a ktm to give it a thumbs up but from what ive heard there pretty sick. i would ride em and price them. then go from there.

Suzuki or Honda are the to 2 out there... go to a national and 75% of the quads are suz or honda, as for yamaha, im sorry but i owned a yfz and i will never go back, way too much stuff cracking/breaking, they just dont hold up in MX, I've never ridden a yfzR though, so I wont talk bad about those.

Exactly! EVERYBODY i know with either the LTR, KFX, or CanAm has lots of problems.

Go with Honda, Yamaha, KTM, even a Polaris over the ones mentioned above!

its all about maintence. i have a 06 and race nationals B class and so far i havent had any thing break like a tranny, frame, subframes, etc. suzukis would be great with a yamaha tranny. honda would be great with a tougher frame and subframe. also honda's need tranny work with enough upgrades.

i go to the track weekly and theres always a honda or 2 with a broken frame thats been welded 87x and still breaking.

x2 on the hondas frames cracking my 05 yfz held up to mx pretty well but when i got my 450r it cracked like crazy and this was a pro level quad so it wasnt because i was jumping like crazy on stock shocks.

if you ride them right they will all fail eventually.

If you aren't looking to spend a bunch of money, but still want to be on a competitive quad, then I have to say go for the YFZ450R. I have raced mine for a while now with just nerf bars, a steering dampner, pipe and MX tires. It's an awesome handling machine in stock form, and it's honestly one of those quads that, unless you are in the Pro class, won't have to do much else to to be really competitive.

I have had several YFZ's, and I love my R.......
