250r hood on a 400ex

dono if this is a repost but in my search for hoods for my 400ex retro build i found this

You can't get anymore Retro than 1st Generation Stock. Fenders are not stock, They have been race cut, So you are somewhat correct.

I love the look of the 1st gen fenders
But i had to be a little different, so i went with silver maier racecut with a quadtech carbon fiber hood

retro honda not retro 400ex based off the 86 250r that started it all. it will be white fenders blue hood and seat red frame gold wheels gold a arms ect i may even have custom retro 250r graphix made tha say 440ex down the rear fenders

but why would you want to make a 400ex look like a 250r? If thats what you want then sell your ex and buy an R. Its kinda like trying to make a Camaro look like a Corvette.

I think it will look great as a "retro" build. The 1st gen fenders and headlights are super boring and all the cosmetic mods you listed will make it your own. I like the looks of the 250r over the ex. The mounting for the plastic is so similar it would be easy to do a full plastic swap and look like an r without having to ride a 2 smoke.....

why would i do this? for the retro hona 80's style on a more modern platform. as for your camaro corvette point that dosent quite fit, for me its more similar to makeing the new camaro look like the old 69 camaro. at least thats how i see it.

ps- race cut or not, stock fenders are still stock fenders.

I agree!!! put whatever you want on you bike. if it is what you like, then rock it. i love the 250R hoods on 1st gen 400's here are a couple of my past bikes with R hoods

I could never cut my headlights out... Unless i had another set of plastics around to cut out.

we do a lot of night riding and the stock headlights suck, plus i got my hands on a quadtech hood so i had to put it to use. different strokes.

idk. i just preffer the look of the hood. dont get me wrong now. i have had plenty of stock ones too. just like to do different things. plus sometimes the stock look reminds me of a frog.. LOL

Well i never ride at night. Plus i have the one of a kind NACs Racing Headlight covers. And i like to show them off a little bit. The only reason i would ever cut mine is if i am required to for MX next year. Will i have to take them out if i have covers?

If done right, some people can rock the stock look. But some guys just can't do it for the life of them... the yellow plastics will never ever look good with the stock headlights...
