OK, what's the real deal? I've searched though the threads and haven't found the answer. Someone mentioned the archives, don't see anything called archives. Where are the archives?

What I want to know: Will 400EX or 250R A-arms and shocks mount up to the factory mounts of the 300, or is this a major project?

Someone knows. How about sharin'?

I read some where that 400ex a arms will bolt right up and if they do you will need the tie rod ends also because the a arms are longer witch you probly know.:huh

400ex arms will mount right up to a 300ex,,,250R arms won't. the shocks from the 400ex won't work either,,you'll have to keep your 300ex shocks.

they may fit, but what about the angles of the spindles and the shock tabs...

how about the spacing between the ball joints... i was told the front end was all different.

Ok this is the whole story.

400ex and ONLY 88-89 a-arms will fit.. but you can not do this mod without using the 400ex or 250r shocks.. and you need a upper shock mount from a 400ex so the shock line up with the a-arms. If you look at the 2 machines you will notice that the 400ex shocks r much longer than the 300exs .. that is why you need that upper shock mount from a 400ex.
Its not a big job if you can get near a good welder, but it is much cheaper than buying extended a-arms made specifically for the 300ex.

If I remember right Quadfamily did a swap like this a while back, but I can't remember what he did as far as shocks went. He said it sat a little lower ( I don't think he made a new shock mount). As far as shocks go the shock mount is around 13" to center on the 300ex and 16" on the 400ex. These measurements are rough and were taken from the bottom frame rail a while back. I looked into this a little because I will also do this swap in winter on the 250x.
