what exactly are you putting rubber grommets on?

on the head stay and on the front side mounts. and on every mounting place on the exhaust. its more like a 3/16 thick rubber washer

I understand what you're saying, I was hoping someone would help you out, but no one is pitching in, so I'll try to help with what little I know on the topic.

Yes, people put dirtbike engines on 400ex's all the time- no problems

There is one guy on here that put a 500cc 2 stroke from a Kawi on his 400. It's a sharp looking bike.

From what I've read, don't bother with the rubber bushings; they aren't going to help. The guy with the 500ex said that it doesn't vibrate much worse than any other quad. He said something about just looking the quad over for lose bolts before every ride.

So in short:

Yes, it'll work just fine if you do a good job.

No, don't bother with bushings, it just makes things come lose. Just tighten things down before every ride.

I hope other people can chime in and help you out bro.

blue loctite on the bolts would work nice.

I think the rubber bushings would help greatly, worst that can happen is they dont work and you take them off.

hey, i have a friend who did a 250r Motor in his ex frame. He used rubber gromits and stuff and it actually helped out quite a bit. Get an anti-vibe stem and that should help out greatly too!

Dirt bike motors dont have a counter balance. It will vibrate=cracks, parts falling off, numb hands and feet and loose teeth. The LT500 Quadzilla motor has the balancer. Best bang for the buck!!

/\ /\ /\ yea what he said. we put an xr650 in my buds ex and it tore itself apart on the first ride. they vibrate and are off balance too much for a quad frame. idk why

Four points of contact to the ground vs two.
