My motor is at a machine shop to get a hotrod stroker crank in and when the guy put it all together the rod hits the case. He called hotrods and they said it was an 86 ATC case and that rod wouldn't work.

Here is what i don't understand. It had 87 cylinder, long rod crank and everything about it said it was all original 87 off my bike.

Also i thought the 86 cases where the same between atc and trx's and iv seen poeple run them on 86's...

This is the number the shop gave them. TB06E. He said this is on the case.

Is hotrods pulling my leg or whats going on.

typically the big ends of hotrods rods are larger "thicker" at the bigend and will cause interference with the cases when used on a crank thats stroked more than 4mm but most good/reputable engine builders will work some of the material from the rod. what stroke are you going with?

btw: i dont think it has a thing to do with the year of the cases. juss my .02

you have to grind some material from the cases where rod hits. Sometimes you even have to trench the cases where the rod runs, all the way around. Ive put +4 stroker cranks in 2 motors and it worked both times by just taking a die grinder and taking some material off where the rod hits. its usually right near the top.

ok well it just seems like hotrods is trying to BS some stuff because i looked on macdizzy and TB06E is just the first part of the engine number for TRX's

85-89 engine cases interchange and will fit every years parts. Hotrod doesn't know what they are talking about. Most strokers need the cases trenched.

Yep like deathman said all 250r cases are interchangable....
