Everyone that owns a 700XX knows the biggest drawback when trying to MX the quad is, IT WONT TURN. The IRS just gets too much traction, plus it's next to impossible to run an 18" tire setup. We have found the solution. We are now running a set of Douglas front beadlocks size 10x6 (4" back spacing) with a set of old Armstrong Fast Trekker fronts sized 21x7x10. Essentially the tire is 19" tall when mounted. The narrow tire provides just the right amount of traction and the 700XX still comes out of the hole great, plus it can now be pitched sideways like a straight axle. This dramatically improved the handling of our 700XX on the MX track. It's very controllable and much funner to ride.

These Tires are now made by Titan:

Would you mind posting pictures of your setup? What changes have been made?

I will put some pics up when I get a chance. Its only got minor mods right now: No airbox lid, baffle out of exhaust, 400EX nerf bars (AC), Douglas Ultimate Beadlocks up front with Quadcross MX Pro's, then the Fast Trekkers and 10x6 beadlocks on the rear.

Best setup for MX is to get a set of ITP 10x7 or DWT 10x8 and put the ITP Holeshot 19x10x10 tires on. This is a good setup.
Or order a set of Maxxis razr 18x10x10 or BKT X-drive 18x10x10 , both these tires are availible but hard to get a hold of.

Because of the rims availible you will gain 1" in overall wheel diameter.

That looks like it would have terrible forward bite.

That first idea sounds good, got a pic?

I've had those 18x10x10 tires before and they suck. Not enough sidewall and you'll destroy wheels left and right. The extra inch would help.

for mx you need to get that 700 lower and wider and bigger sway bars to control the roll of the quad in corners

Not tried the ITP's as they are only a 2 ply tyre , not quite stiff enough for the 700xx IMO.
Playing it safe with Kenda Klaw 20x11x10 XCR's and they are lasting about 20 hours and then they are bold !
Kenda 20x11x10 on a DWT 10x8 rim will be about a tad over 21" tall , I reduced the preload and they do very well in all types of racing terrains.

A swaybar will only help if you have really bad shocks (stock) and/or bad shock settings. You get your shocks dialled in and you wouldn't need a swaybar.
Kinda of a cheap fix !

I dont understand why you would use a front tire as a rear tire, theres no way your pulling a holeshot with those, I would like to see a 700xx built up to race mx though probably would look pretty cool,

What most people don't understand, and especially those that have never ridden a 700XX, is that it has too much traction. So much traction that for us it wasn't even fun to ride. By cutting the width of that rear tire in half it really made the quad handle 10 times better.

As far as the holeshot it was affected some, but not as much as you'd think. We can still holeshot straight axle bikes.

The setup is different, its bizarre, its never been done before. It's something you would have to ride to believe.

im not insulting you or anything but I will believe it when I see it lol, Got a video?

I've seen this bike in action in a outlaw race running against 450's and I was impressed.

Well hey you've found front tires on the rear is what works best for a 700xx then run front tires on the back lol, I just got to ask what Made you think to mount them on the rear in the first place?

I had those front beadlocks and tires setting around from WAY back. I knew the bolt pattern was the same so we were like "lets try these!" LOL

That was a fun day.

Did Honda replace the piston and rings for you?

It's not that the rear has too much traction , It's a case of the front not wanting to turn corners !

it was sweet watching this bike come around the corner. I was at the outlaw race.
