I can't get my Tie Rod End off.

On my 300ex my left tie rod end is shot and i cant get it off. When i try to take the tie rod end nut off it just turns the whole shaft. I know you take the carter pen thing out but it's just not coming off. Am i doing something wrong?

push the rubber bushing down. there you will use i think a 10 or 12mm wrench to hold it while you turn the nut.
