my practice bike will not start so i checked my valves and now i am totally confused. my intake valves measure .038 mm and i have a 235 shim. my exhaust valves measure .178 mm and i have a 230 shim. they are tight but the only problem is unless im doing something wrong they dont make a shim that can fix this. so now what do i do? i have a suzuki service manual and the chart is just blank were the 2 columes intersect. so now what?

obviously everything is past its service limit and you need to have new parts installed. either that or like you said your doing something wrong.

Just had this problem, you probly seen my post, I broke a piston ring at redbud so I got a new cylinder and 13:1 and I installed it.. still was hard to start. Hours later I took it in and the dealer said my valves were shot from lack of shimming them.

Basically, I would do a compression test, I believe stock is 113, somebody correct me if I'm wrong. But chances are you will need new valves, I would just send your head out to yoshi or atp or a good shop and have it ported while its off if you have the cash.

Thanks guys but I didn't relize that a hot cams shim kit goes all the way down to like a 120 shim...I put a 215 in the intake and a 220 in the ehaust and she purrs like a kitten and fires right up
