Just wondering how many hours you guys are getting before you have to rebuild? Right now I have approx. 120 hours on mine, quad still runs great, I change the oil often and have it jetted correctly. Having said that I know the everything has a life expectancy and I wanted to know when to start saving for a rebuild. I dont want to wait til I am having trouble to start a rebuild. thanks ahead for any info

I have a 1999 EX and it is still going strong!! No idea how many hours are on it, but it get's ridden hard during the summer and stored away during the winter. I have always used Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 oil.

I also have a '99. I'm the third owner. Who knows how many hours are on it, but mine runs great, doesn't burn a drop of oil, and just keeps going. Haven't had to do any motor work so far.

In my opinion, if you keep consistent on the maintenance, she'll treat you well for a long time to come.

mines a 99, ive done 7 harescrambles alot of time at practice motocross tracks and a ton of time in the woods. just tore it down to do a 416 and it looked very nice inside. the only problem i had was a little bit of smoke due to a warn exhaust valve guide. other than that it has been a great motor

Feed it clean oil and clean air and forget about it.

Pick up a compression tester and check compression each time you take the tank off.

That will tell you when you start heading towards a rebuild.

I too have a 99. It was using some oil so I did a top end (new piston and rings) and have the valve seals replaced.

If you are at 120 hours, its just getting broken in. Unless its using oil, clean your filter and ride it. Its hard to beat these things.

I change the oil and filter about every 10-15 hours always has a clean filter I was just wondering. I am def not new to quads just new to four strokes when it comes to rebuilding.

Unless you have the money to have it built. If it isn't broke don't fix it. You will get years and years out of them with the proper maintenance..

hey Steve,...
well just doing a little quick math here, and I'm figuring that you got around 230 hours on it,....
(since you rarely ride over 15 MPH !!!)
