Most of the used works or elka shocks i have been finding are set up for MX. (so im told) I ride mostly trail and mountain with some jumping. To old to jump to high. Is a shock set up for MX going to be a big disadvantage rather than one set up for trail or trail / MX. I weigh 200- 220 lbs. with gear. Shocks set up for 190-200 MX would that work. I have Stock A arms

Your extra weight would make them a little softer, but I don't know if it would make that big of a difference.

Id think they would be really stiff for trail riding.

I bought a set of works steelers w/o rezzies and specifically told them I ride trails and XC and jump no higher than 5 feet high. They set my shocks perfectly. I told them i wanted a plush ride and that is that I got, with no bottoming.

shocks that are too stiff will allow the front end to slide in sharp turns and will wear you out quicker by beating you up over rough terrain. just be very clear to Works when explaining what you want in the performance of your shocks.:)
