2003 predator won't start

I have a 03 predator 500 run great for the longest time. I noticed it getting alittle hard to start. I went on a ride last weekend I have to bump start it. After it ran for 10 mins it starts fine. Last night I went to start it nothing I trying bigger pilot jet, starting fulid, pulling the plug bump starting it nothing. When I push the button it turns over makes the sound right before it starts but it never starts any ideas?

Ok well it back fires alot and spits gas out the carb?

I think 400 ex is correct....Valves out of spec. You mentioned it getting harder to start, that is a common sign.

also do you think i should replace the vavles or just the shims?

try just reshiming. should make a huge difference.

Well I got some feeler gauges today exhaust is prefect. I couldn't even get a .002 feeler gauge in the intake I think that's our problem.

Well I have 2 problems there's alot of oil in the top of the motor and I got it pull start the other day and smoke coming out of the carb? Normal?

reshim your valves to the right sprcs and go from there. fix one thing at a time. the valves could be the culprit of them all. as for alot of oil in the top of the motor. what do you mean?

Well there oil just laying in where the valve caps are it just seems like alot of oil maybe it's normal idk lol.

sounds like the oil pump is doing its job.
