does it get better with the choke or worse? main is probably good, either the needle has to get raised or lowered would be my guess. do you have a bigger pilot or anything? i would find out what exactly you have then go from there. a lean bog and a rich bog are different but can be felt from the choke being on and off. if it runs better with the choke on when it usually bogs it is lean there. opposite is rich. steve

after reviewing a bit more, i would suspect that you will have to drop your needle buy raising the clip from the 3rd to the 2nd. i think you had a 165 in it also but i cant remember for sure. 3-3.5 turns out from lightly seated on the f/a screw is where you should be also. That it the small flat head screw on the bottom of the carb that is all by itself. not to be confused with the idle adjustment which is the black knob that can be turned with flat head also. steve

also whats your elevation? i think a 165 may be a bit lean still for you with a full exhaust if you are pretty close to sea level. maybe a 172 or 175 would be better. I think you asked about this a while back and i suggested around a 172 to start off. did you make the trip to get the jets yet?? steve

review this to see if you can pinpoint where exactly the bog is at. since you are running a 165 or 162 it may be a lean bog from that since your needle could be lean and your main is just close enough to run good. how does your plug look after doing some plug chops and general riding? steve

nick, glad to hear you got the pilot cleaned up and got it running good. that is why it is hard to diagnose. I thought it was a bit higher up in the throttle by the sounds of it. the pilot only goes until about 1/8 throttle and the f/a is only really for fine tuning it from there. vermont is pretty high so the 165 sounds perfect for that. :D cheers to running good lol Im not really sure if you can get just the cable assembly or not. check out the schematics on service honda or bike bandit and see if you can get just that. it seems to me that you can since you can take it all off of the carb when the black cover is off of it. steve

it looks like you can get just the cable. it is number 11 on the schematic.

i would be getting a different starter. get a different one along with the gears. I think you said that it wasnt turning if i remember right. for 20 or 40 bucks for a used one its not worth doing anything with the one you have. links didnt work lol.

well when i take it all part so it is put the electric motor it works when i put the gears in it works when the flywheel is in it doesnt work just clicks and other huge question is i have a oil leak it was the base gasket but fixed that i think it the rubber grommet on the flywheel/stater wire? i put silicon around them are u not supposed to do that??or do you think it is more the fact the cover cracked and jb weled so its not flush? it just startes leaking over the top between the starter and jug! after i pop start it lol thanks a million steve!

I think that your starter is weak enough not to turn it over imo, with the flywheel there is much more added drag on it to turn and could likely cause a weak starter not to turn it at all. with 10:1 compression on an older starter that has been used quite a bit it may be very hard for it to turn over without being in very good operating condition. The oil leak on the other hand sounds like a big problem. I dont think i would run any part on an engine with jb weld but that is just me. That would probably be the main cause of the issues. i would get that fixed no matter if it is the problem or not, then go from there. I would be willing to bet that is the problem though. without seeing where exactly it is coming from it can be tough though. there could be a pulled stud holding the case on causing the seal to break when the oil pressure builds up in the cover. if it got hit hard it could be a possibility, it may torque down enough since the proper spec is small then have trouble when under load. just an option for you to consider. lol steve

haha well it has a 61 horse motor! haha just yanking it from that bs thread but its right at the rubber grommet i think that is were it is not sealing i jb welded it becasue it i ssmall and im just gonna order a new cover or wait for my uncle to come home because he is the best welder i know
