40.5 is what I would run on a stock cylinder thru 370.

I have mentioned before that I was running a 38 as and switched to the ESR 40.5 and would never go back. Make sure if you do go with a 40.5 that it is done right (tapered). I would also agree with running the 40.5 from 250 -370. You wont regret it.

Some have taken a 39 carb and just bore a bigger hole in it but they dont taper or smooth it out. ESR and I'm sure others do a good job at doing it right.

As far as gains, I'm not sure HP wise how much you gain. However you will feel it right away and you will notice how your motor wants to just keeping reving/pulling. I didn't believe it at first. I was taking what others were saying about losing bottom end blah blah blah as bring true. It's not true. Your 350 will have plenty of bottom end but now more top end as well.

A 40.5 mm carb isn't too much for a stock 250cc cylinder? I run a 38mm A/S now, is it really that much of a noticeable difference? Do you just gain top end or acceleration as well?

A 40.5 is not to much for a 250r. I noticed the bike did better all around including acceleration. Most people who say that it is too big is because they never used a bigger carb before.

I have a question for you albert- in switching to the 40.5 on a 250cc R motor, did you notice an increase in fuel consumption? I mean other than the "wow" factor and cracking the throttle open more, more often?

I ask this for I have stayed away from switching to a larger than stock carb because of the distances my group rides. Me and one friend on a Banshee are the only 2-strokes left in the group and we were the ride distance decision factor for the group until we both bought desert tanks. Now we can get within about 10 miles of range of the rest of the 4-pokes. So, I did not want to try and gain throttle response and performance at a significant loss of range. You know, the age-old hear-say information of "if you go to a 40mm + carb, you'll double your fuel useage" statement.

I will say the Lectron is the best I have used. No need for alot of jets and different needles. After you get the needle height set its just a turn of the powerjet. Super easy.
