I was goofin around tonight cleaning up the plastics and such on the r and noticed that my handlebars looked crooked. so I tore all the front plastics off and realized that my steering stem was bent! so I was diggin around in the scrap pile and found a piece of 1 1/4" od DOM chromoly (stock tube is only 1 1/8" od) So I decided to fix my steering stem and add 1" and fab a better bar clamp mount than the stock one. So I pulled the stock stem out, cut the tierod bracket and spindle off the bottom as one unit, then cut the bar clamp mount off to measure the piece of tubing, cut the new metal and coped the end for the bar clamp, and started getting everything fabbed up. here are some pics.

here you can see the section of tubing i cut from the factory stem is bent.

Nice work! looks awesome! But wont you have trouble getting it to fit inside the top clamp? Maybe when you get this done, you can give me some tips and tricks. I need to cut a small section out of a frame and replace it.

the top clamp is big enough that it can work but what I may have to do is either have the clamp machined out 1/8" or maybe 1/8" spacers will work.

take a picture of the section of your fram you need replaced, so i can help you easily.
