Problem Starting

Hi i have a 04 kfx 400 and when ever i go to start it. it either starts right up or wont start..sounds like it wants to start but it just wont..i usually end up killing my battery and so I put the battery charger on it and it usually starts after a while but im not sure. I hope someone knows whats wrong because I cant ride to far because its not reliable.

When the engine is warmed up and you have been riding for awhile, Does the machine start right up? If so, you need to adjust your valves. When the engine is cold it's hard is heck to start the motor when the valves are out of spec.

Yes it usually starts good once its warmed up. If it sits for like 30mins or more it does it. You really have to play with the throttle to get it to sound like it wants to start

Yep, valves need adjusted, a classic symptom of hard starting. When was the last time they were checked?
