jetting and electic starter questions need help

ok so when i hit my button it just clicks and when i jump the solenoid it just clicks when i take the gears off the motor and hit the button it works fine and everything is put together right the starter motor has sat for a year or so is it possible that rust got inside?? and with jetting i the mods in sig but no hotcams and the crab has a 148 and it runs like a raped ape but that seems way to lean and it puffs a lil white smoke?

brushes could be wore out or corroded up. I would go with my 400 carb setup and try it from there. maybe a 172, 2nd, clip, 38 pilot, 3.5 turns out. see how it does there. then you can go up or down if needed. steve

That mainjet definately needs to be increased. The 148 is the mainjet for a bone stock motor.

is thats why it is smoking and wheres the idle? there is a big flat head but the line/wire.thing broke so i have to turn it by hand and steve should i take it apart and check it out?

thats the idle adjuster. the f/a screw is on the front of the carb on the bottom. you shouldnt have to adjust the idle. if you have a 1/4" socket you can get a 17mm wrench to get the cap off of the bowl and change the jet that way. you can also adjust the f/a screw by turning the carb with it still in the boots. steve

ok well it wouldnt idle so i had to play with it must be jetting so follow ur guild lines? my dad said a 168 main

you could end up there. hard to say. that is just a basis to start from and see how it goes. it could be completely off base for what you have. steve

and thanks, i know need to go the cam am dealer and see if he has jets if not looks like an hour trip lol well i need the heat shield that goes under the tank anyways

possibly why there is some smoke. yamaha has the same jets also if there is one closer. I would say that can am may also have them. make sure you take yours with you so they can match it up easily. steve

the yami dealer is kinda next to the honda one and the can am on is just a few mins up the road lol do i need piolets?

wouldnt hurt to get a 40 and a 42 since you want to make the trip count. no matter what you shouldnt need anything more than a 42. get from a 165-178 and you will be set. steve
