ok i wanna built my motor for xc but im hearing 2 different sides to everything like high compression piston good or bad or a good intake or just run a foam filter and stock airbox and what gearing do you guys run with 20's on the back. or is there really anything else i could do to my motor which is stock right now

*13:1 or 13.5:1 piston
*FCI intake or any of the pro-flow adapters gytr,sparks,modquad, prodesign, etc. foam uni filters for 08 trx450 fit these intakes
*stock gearing 14/38 or 13/38
*carb mods ziptie,throttle spring mods,etc.

high compression gives more torq and low-mid range power helps on starts
