Hey, first time poster here, WOOHOO! Awesome site!

I adjusted my valves on my 400ex a couple of weeks ago, first time I had adjusted the valves on anything ever. I used the guide from the tech section (which was very detailed and helpful!). Anyhow, it said when the piston is at TDC, the rocker arms will have slack. Just how much slack are you talking about? I could move the arms a very little bit, bout enough to get a feeler guage under it. I rotated the motor quite a few times to get the feel for when the valve open and close. Thats where I adjusted them at so I hope it was right. It still runs anyway.

Also on these, do the valve usually have too much clearance when they are adjusted for the first time after break-in?

Thanks, Rich
