nerf bars

has anybody tried putting any other kinds of nerf bars on a stock 86 frame, i want some with heel guards and not a big hole in between the nets and a frame weve tried 400ex but theyre too low if i need to do some fabbing thats no problem as long as theyre strong and sturdy, any help would be greatly appreciated

AC racing makes them for the 250r with integrated heel guards... the only ones there are, Burgard made them too but I didn't see them on the website last time I checked... you can mount 450r IMS nerfs, but you need 250r heel guards... and IMS pegs... expensive.

I recommend the AC ones, they don't require any mods and reasonably priced...

You might find some other results if you search. This has been discussed a lot. Happy hunting...

AC nerfs are for 88-89 style. they wont work on an 86.

how are the 88-89 different from the 86, you cant fab them to make them fit

86-87 use two bolts to mount a bracket to the frame while the 88-89 use single bolt in a pivot.

can you use 88/89 ims with the stock mounts? or does anybody have the one piece ims ones for sale? I'm a bigger guy and like the one piece design a little better....

muddy mess your wrong i have a set for my 88-89 stock frame and when i first got them they sent me 86-87 style you just have to specify when you call up ac racing... and also they are the best nerfs for the 250r i wish they made them for aftermarket frames...

I still have a doubt. The picture you posted shows nerfs for the Banshee, not a 250R. (That picture is shown under the "New Yamaha Banshee MX peg" heading anyway.) AC only lists the new MX peg nerfs for the 88/89 250R's, so Muddymess is correct.

I spoke to AC about two or three months ago about them making the MX peg nerfs for the 86/87. They said they are on the "to do" list, but not sure when they would be done. Expect it to be a while, they were low on the priority list.

oh if that is a pic for the banshee i apologize i searched 250r nerf and thats the picture i got and also the 88-89 style and i was under the impression muddymess was talking about the nerfs not the pegs my bad

i thought about getting some 88-89 nerfs and chopping the mounts on the nerfs and the stock peck for the 86 and welding the 88-89 nerfs to my 86 peg mounts
